SMART PHONES ADVANCEMENT STING ACE BRANDS

Smart phones- they have a huge history to contribute in, as their story has been a history in itself. Smart phones weren’t really called as these initially as the purpose of phones was pretty simple back then. When the first phone came out, no one really thought that a simple small calling gadget would later form into a mini world in itself. The purpose of phones was pretty sombre back then – to make and receive calls with the aim of connecting people.

Come to think of it, phones still cater to this purpose but the advancement has widened and so has our necessities. Once we longed for just a small calling device with no internet. Now we long for the same but with the most advance features, including a good connectivity. What has contributed to it? Well, it is the modernisation that has led to it. Enough of history, let’s get to the details.

Apple and Samsung, these two brands have taken over the world with their unique technology used in their respective products. These products range from mobile phones, to tablets, to laptops and other products for entertainment purposes. There is no comparison that can be concluded in between these two brands because both of them are unique in their own ways. There has been a competition between these two brands over technology, including suits against each other. This friendly tiff has led to these two brands fear over one major problem. The problem of other smart phones rising to their competition! As weird as it may seem that these two tech giants are threatened by other rising tech brands, it is real!

The sting in sale of smart phones

The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook reported as to why there was a reduction in iPhone sales than what was expected. The result of this report was the contribution of other smart phones that were already persisting in the market. This prevalence of other brands in the market has been a threat to sales of iPhones. The CEO claims that “too several sensible mobile phones are already out there” while referring to the sale reduction.

Tracing the history of advancement of mobile phones, there has been a time when users craved for good features in a phone. Features ranging from a 4G connectivity, increased screen display size, good battery, amazing camera, waterproofing etc. Initially, these features were not something that every phone could have. A few brands held the monopoly of their technology. This led to the bloom in their sales irrespective of the high pricing of these products. With the advancement of technology, the time has come where almost every second person owns a smart phone. The technology now comes with an affordability criteria that accommodates all walks of life. So why would people go for high priced products when other brands provide the same features in a lesser price? Of course this is the main reason why both, good brands like Apple and Samsung are suffering the sting in their sales.

Another reason for low iPhone sales is the battery replacement program run by Apple. This is where people can replace their iPhone batteries since the prices are slashed (from $79 to $29). This program over turned the sales of iPhones as users now replaced batteries instead of upgrading their phones.

China, a major threat to ace smart phone brands

China has been one a competitor to every country in terms of advancement, especially tech related. Apple and Samsung have been persisting in the market for a very long time now. There have been a few brands that exist but none has reach the level of either of the two brands. However, off late, there has been a bloom in the Chinese market for smart phones and this has been a threat to these two brands. Companies like Huawei, Oppo, Vivo deliver products that are affordable and appealing to the consumers. These companies are now transitioning to India, which has an aim of creating a smart phone market that competes with ace brands like Apple and Samsung. With their aggressive pricing strategy, Chinese market has already vowed to overtake major brands and the result is very evident.

The features adjudging the survival of the brands

With people owning laptops, TVs, PCs and even mobile phones, the only criteria to survive in the market depends on the complexity of the products. The sales of the products don’t matter now; it is the complexity of products that decide the fate of the brands. With each brand coming out with such complex features, including the Google’s Night Sight camera mode, One Plus’s models, Huawei, Xiaomi products owning one of its kind features, the tiff surely is increasing.

It is fascinating to see how every product launched by every brand comes with something new for the consumer. The day isn’t far when Apple and Samsung might have to fight with other brands to establish their position in the market. Years have gone by, and we have seen both these brands tremble a bit. Only time will tell us about their fates but till then, let’s wait for a fold-able phone, or a phone that disappears after you use because why not? You never know, with time, we can own a 5G connectivity phone coupled with a time machine. Fancy right? But who thought what phones would get us, when once internet connectivity with 2G was all we cared about?
